History of the island..

Richard left today, Sarah and I dropped him off on the way to Boar, my favorite place.

Sarah's loads of fun, we get along great. We do little interviews with each other and make extravagant plans. Sometimes we venture through cemeteries while on watch as well, because each killing beach has a nearby church.

Some graves were brand new like this one, and didn't even have a head stone yet. others were much older. I remember there was one with two sons that had died on the same day.

It's always fun to explore especially when you're in another country with such a vivid past. The Faroe Islands were known for the Vikings and they did once live there.

It's weird as you walk along the beaches and the cemeteries you can feel the energies from the island. I know i know, that's crazy voodoo, but these islands aren't normal. I've been in places where you can feel a bad energy before but I've never been somewhere where you can just feel the negative pulling towards you, you can feel the blood and the death. The island is intense. But of course what else would you expect from an island in the middle of the ocean? So rich in history.

It felt really incredible to take a few minutes to explore and to appreciate the Faroes for what they are, an island full of history, and not just a history of whaling, but a history of people. These people have lived here for hundreds of years and have dealt with being cut off from civilization, a lack of food, and even a lack of transportation.

Today they have cars, boats, underwater tunnels. Grocery stores filled with food, even Nutella! They have evolved into such a modern culture when years ago it was filled with Vikings just trying to survive a harsh climate with little resources.
But we should remember how much further they could come, if they decided to evolve their traditions and stop whaling. If they turned their boat killing formation into a whale watching experience. The islands here are truly beautiful, so many tourists would love to come visit, so why not give them a reason to come enjoy these beautiful country, instead of a huge reason not to.
