I walked downstairs to grab something from the fridge and glanced toward the tv. A boat was in the ocean and a narrator was telling a tale. "Are you watching that stupid crab catching show again?" Suddenly another boat is shown, with a harpoon, a loud clash and the whale is shot, Dead.
Hours go by and I was glued to the tv. Who are these people? Why are they risking their lives for the whales? Who would dare kill these beautiful animals? And more importantly how can i help?
I told my parents, "Someday, that's going to be me, i'm going to join Sea Shepherd and i'm going to help end whaling!"
They laughed, thinking here goes Linda, getting all upset over something again.
But I joined every SAVE THE WHALES club in existence, wrote letters, did presentations, and eventually met with Sea Shepherd at a local Denver event where I was asked to join the team. Four years later I am an Onshore Volunteer, traveling around Colorado spreading insight about ocean conservation, Sea Shepherd, and what people can do to help!
